Northeast Middle,
May is always a beautifully busy time of year, filled with the energy of ceremonies, music concerts, award celebrations, and the final push of MAP and NWEA testing. Amidst the end-of-year hustle and bustle, it is such a wonderful time to pause and remember how incredible our scholars, families, and staff are. Seeing all of their hard work from the classroom come together during these final weeks is a highlight for our entire school community.
As we look toward our final days, please remember that many scholars will be completing final tests and projects this week. It is important for scholars to remain focused academically to finish the semester strong and earn those high marks. We will officially conclude the 2025-2026 school year this Friday with our traditional Food Truck Day. There will be over ten (10) food trucks available, and scholars may use either cash or card for their purchases. Please keep in mind that scholars are dismissed at 12:20p this Friday! School resumes on Tuesday, August 25th.
Lastly, this will be my final Viking News for the year and my final email to you as the principal of Northeast Middle. It has been an incredible honor to get to know so many of our families and to serve our scholars over these last eight years. In 2018, when I started, I knew from afar how special the Northeast Middle and north area community was, but these last eight years truly showed me more than I ever expected. Being a part of this community has been a highlight of my career, and I am beyond proud of everything we have accomplished together.
Northeast is a gem and a beacon. While there are always things to improve upon, the way this school has transformed is truly remarkable. Our scholars, staff, and families are passionate individuals who care deeply for this school and the north area. I look forward to watching the amazing things that will continue to come from this community. I will still be around in my new role within the district, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything or if there is an event where I can support your child. It has been an incredible privilege, and I look forward to this last week together. It is a great day to be a Viking!

Chromebooks
If scholars who are not returning to Parkway Schools next year, please ensure they drop off of their Chromebook to the Tech Stop. If they are returning (including North High), they will keep their Chromebook over the summer.
8th Grade Celebration Ceremonies
Each scholar will receive three (3) tickets for guests and one (1) parking pass. Please note that parking is VERY limited. Parking will be in the north and back lots.
Scholars will receive their tickets and parking pass on Monday, May 18th, during 7th hour. It is their responsibility to not lose them, as extras or replacements will not be provided. Due to the limited number of tickets, we will be live-streaming on Facebook each ceremony.
Frequently we find scholars get checked out for the day following the ceremony. That is a parental decision. The ceremonies are on Wednesday, May 20th, during the following times based on your child's assigned team:
- 8 Achieve: 8:45a-9:15a (doors/parking lot open at 8:30a)
- 8 Believe: 9:45a-10:15a (doors/parking lot open at 9:30a)
- 8 Inspire: 10:45a-11:15a (doors/parking lot open at 10:30a)

Dear Northeast Middle families,
At the beginning of the year, we set ambitious goals for our scholars focusing on academic achievement, real-world connections, and building a community where every scholar feels seen and supported. We are incredibly proud to share that Northeast Middle has not only met these goals but, in many cases, far exceeded them. These results are a powerful testament to the hard work of our scholars and the unwavering dedication of our staff.
Our fall-to-spring NWEA results show that our scholars are making significant strides in their learning. To put this in perspective, the district goal is for 52% of scholars to meet their growth targets in reading and math. Northeast met or surpassed this mark across the board. In math, our goal was 47% and we saw 52% of scholars meet their growth targets. In reading, our goal was 50% and we achieved a staggering 69%, which represents the highest growth in the entire district. For science, our goal was 55% and 65% of our scholars met their goals. Furthermore, Northeast landed in the top quadrant (high achievement / high growth) for all subject areas.
Our scholars are also thriving personally. In our recent social-emotional learning surveys, we saw an increase in all areas, including self-management, social awareness, emotion regulation, sense of belonging, self-efficacy, school safety, teacher-student relationships, and rigorous expectations. The largest gains from scholars self-rating from fall to spring were in school safety, emotion regulation, sense of belonging, and self-efficacy. When compared nationally, Northeast is performing in the 60th to 99th percentile for all areas. We were the only middle school that saw an increase in all areas. While we are incredibly proud of these results, we recognize that we must continuously reflect and improve. There is still work to be done, but we are incredibly proud to share these results as a testament to the hard work of our staff and scholars.
As we look toward the end of the year, please note that all after-school activities have now concluded for the year. Thank you for your participation and support of these programs throughout the term. We have two (2) more days of MAP and EOC testing taking place this Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:20a to 11:20a. Please ensure your child is getting a good night’s rest, has a charged Chromebook, and maintains the right mindset to show their success.
Additionally, our 8th graders will be heading to Six Flags this Friday. They are required to wear their 8th grade shirt, which will be handed out this Thursday. Please remember that Six Flags is a cashless venue and scholars will need to be picked up at 5:45p/6:00p in the north lot at Northeast on Friday.

Dear Northeast Middle families,
Happy May! It is hard to believe, but we have just three (3) weeks left of the school year. Time is truly flying by as we move toward our end-of-year celebrations.
As we look toward the future of our school, I am excited to officially welcome the new principal of Northeast Middle, Dr. Nedra Clark! We are very much looking forward to her transition into our community and are currently working on plans for them to meet our wonderful families. Stay tuned for more details on opportunities to connect and welcome Dr. Clark to the Viking family.
On the academic side, we are deep into our testing season. Please remind your child that they must bring a fully charged Chromebook and a pair of headphones to school every day for MAP testing. Having these ready to go ensures a smooth and stress-free experience for our scholars as they show off everything they have learned this year.
We are excited to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week this week and honoring the incredible dedication, and hard work our educators pour into our scholars.

We want to extend a big thank you to our PTO for their unwavering support throughout the school year. Our community is stronger because of their dedication and the ways you consistently show up for our scholars and staff.
We are coming off another successful PTO snack day, which is always a highlight for our scholars. We are also excited to announce that our current PTO officers have been re-elected for a second term! We are so grateful for their continued leadership and commitment to Northeast. Thank you to everyone who supports the PTO...your contributions truly make a difference in our school.
